California Allocates $9.7 Million for Cheech Marin’s Chicano Art Museum

Nearly $10 million of the state of California’s $139 billion budget for 2018–19, which Governor Jerry Brown approved on Wednesday, June 27, is being awarded to a new museum dedicated to Chicano art.

Designed by wHY and Page & Turnbull, the center is the brainchild of actor and collector Cheech Marin, and will become the home of his seven-hundred-work collection. Marin has partnered with the city of Riverside, California, and the Riverside Art Museumto realise the project.
