Amoroso House I

How to have a large yard and to live in a good tree house too?

A young family secured a coveted double lot on a Venice walk street, wanting to create a home that was equal parts public and private, park-like and nest-like. Rather than design a house, wHY began by asking the question ‘How would we design a park to live in?’ Major elements began to organize the site: a public park and a private park divided by a grove of trees; a campfire for cooking; a garden shed; and tree houses for sleeping in. These elements were translated into corresponding components of a home, building and refining the unique characteristics of each while creating an overall identity that is very much at home in Venice.
