Ibid Gallery in Los Angeles

For a London gallerist’s inaugural LA outpost, WHY created a museum-quality art space within an existing brick and timber warehouse building, carefully preserving the integrity and history of the original structure.

Throughout, design interventions celebrate the warehouse’s idiosyncrasies without distracting from the art-viewing experience. Walls are offset from existing structure to frame the building and the art, and skylights flood the space with natural light. The result is an approachable, laid-back atmosphere where architectural detail is both present and self-effacing.
